The New York Association of New Americans is a not-for-profit organization whose programs include ‘bi-culturation,’ intensive English training, community development, legal services, workplace and economic development, and more. The New York State Small Business Development Center, or NYS SBDC, is another eminent not-for-profit agency that counsels those who are about to start or seeking to improve an existing a business. Their main services include the Office of Entrepreneurial Education, Women and Minority Business Owners and Entrepreneurs, International Business Program, Veterans Business Outreach, Disaster Recovery, and many more. Training events are also provided by the organization and occur almost on a daily basis throughout New York State.

SCORE, also known as Counselors to America’s Small Businesses, is able to provide its services at no cost due to the many volunteers consisting primarily of retired and working business executives and owners. Member profiles of the volunteers are available to provide background information and all matters discussed between the counselor and client remain entirely confidential. If a highly unlikely situation was to arise regarding the client’s discomfort or distaste with their counselor, a new volunteer will be appointed. Staten Island’s SCORE also offers many resources such as seminars, Excel programs, PowerPoint presentations, loan links, business resources targeted for our very own borough, and over 50 links on general business-related news and information.

The Staten Island Chamber helps, promotes, networks, and even protects your business interests.
