Getting to Northfield Community LDC

LOCATION

Northfield Community LDC is located at 160 Heberton Avenue in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Staten Island's North Shore, on the corner of Heberton Avenue and New Street, one block north of the intersection of Castleton Avenue and Heberton Avenue.  Richmond Terrace is to the north, Castleton Avenue to the south, Jewett Avenue to the east and Port Richmond Avenue to the west.

BY BUS

The closest bus stops are the #46, #66 and #53 stops at the intersection of Castleton and Heberton.   The #44 bus at Post and Heberton is also nearby, as are the #57, #67 and #59 at Port Richmond Avenue and Castleton.

FROM MANHATTAN:

• Take the 4 or 5 train to Bowling Green, the 1 or 9 to South Ferry, or the N or R train to Whitehall to reach the STATEN ISLAND FERRY.

• Once you have reached the Staten Island side, choose bus ramp C and take the #46 BUS Via Castleton Avenue to the bus stop on the Corner of CASTLETON AVENUE & HEBERTON AVENUE. (There is a large brick church at this corner.)

• After getting off the bus, turn RIGHT onto HEBERTON AVENUE. 160 HEBERTON AVENUE is on the left side of the block, on the corner of Heberton Avenue and New Street.   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.

FROM THE FERRY:

• At the terminal, choose BUS RAMP C and take the #46 BUS Via Castleton Avenue to the bus stop on the Corner of CASTLETON AVENUE & HEBERTON AVENUE. (There is a large brick church at this corner.)

• After getting off the bus, turn RIGHT onto HEBERTON AVENUE. 160 HEBERTON AVENUE is on the left side of the block, on the corner of Heberton Avenue and New Street.   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.

BY CAR

FROM THE SOUTH:

• Use your most convenient route to the intersection of FOREST AVENUE and JEWETT AVENUE.

• Take JEWETT Ave. NORTH to CASTLETON AVENUE (the MTA bus garage will be on the right).   Turn LEFT on CASTLETON to the next light, HEBERTON AVENUE.   Make a RIGHT on HEBERTON.   Northfield Community LDC, 161 HEBERTON, is one block down, on the left, at the next four way intersection (with New Street).   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.

FROM NEW JERSEY(via Goethals Bridge):

• After paying the toll at the GOETHALS BRIDGE, stay straight on the STATEN ISLAND EXPRESSWAY.

• Use the exit for the BAYONE BRIDGE. (This is the Martin Luther King Expressway, a spur off the Staten Island Expressway.) Take this spur (Rt. 440) to the RICHMOND TERRACE EXIT -- the last exit before the Bayonne Bridge.

• At the stop sign at the end of the exit ramp, make a LEFT onto TRANTOR PLACE. You'll be facing Port Richmond High School at the end of this short block.

• Make a RIGHT onto INNIS STREET.

• Make the second LEFT possible onto NICHOLAS AVENUE.

• Make the third Right possible onto CASTLETON AVENUE.

• At the second Traffic Light, make a LEFT onto HEBERTON AVENUE.

• 160 HEBERTON AVENUE is on the left, at the next four way intersection (with New Street).   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.

FROM BROOKLYN:

• From the VERRAZANO NARROWS BRIDGE, remain on 278 WEST (Staten Island Expressway) for about 3 miles

• Take EXIT 13 toward RICHMOND RD/CLOVE ROAD

• Stay STRAIGHT to go onto NARROWS ROAD N.

• Turn a SLIGHT RIGHT onto CLOVE ROAD. Follow Clove Road about 2 miles.

• Turn LEFT onto CASTLETON AVENUE.

• Turn RIGHT onto HEBERTON AVENUE.

• 160 HEBERTON AVENUE is on the left, at the next four way intersection (with New Street).   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.

FROM MANHATTAN (via New Jersey):

• HOLLAND TUNNEL to NEW JERSY TURNPIKE (14 Extension),

• Go to BAYONNE EXIT.

• After paying toll, take 169 (center right) make 1st RIGHT at YEILD sign, then at LIGHT make a LEFT.

• Follow 169 to BAYONNE BRIDGE. Stay Right over bridge. After toll, take 1st EXIT (MORNINGSTAR ROAD).

• Make a LEFT at the end of exit (MORNINGSTAR ROAD).

• At the 1st LIGHT, (WALKER STREET) make a LEFT.

• At the 1st STOP SIGN, make a LEFT onto TRANTOR PLACE.

• Make a RIGHT onto INNIS STREET.

• Make the 2nd LEFT possible onto NICHOLAS AVENUE.

• Make the 3rd RIGHT possible onto CASTLETON AVENUE.

• At the 2nd TRAFFIC LIGHT, make a LEFT onto HEBERTON AVENUE. – 160 HEBERTON AVENUE is on the left, at the next four way intersection (with New Street).   Enter via the basement entrance just past the main steps on the Heberton Avenue side of the building.
